How often have you seen a team spend all its time addressing problems that are mere “symptoms” and not the actual “cause” of the problem?

When the situation is tense, it is natural that you will start attacking the symptoms that are visible to the eye. Over time as more and more fires start to engulf you, the entire team becomes an army of people dozing off these fires. You are so engrossed in trying to doze off these fires that you end up not getting time to figure out “Why these fires are breaking out in the first place”

It is hence very important as a leader for you to direct your team members to not relax after addressing the symptom for the first time.
Ask your team members to dig deep and figure out the “Root cause of the problem” that manifested itself into a visible symptom.

Eliminating problems at the source is critical for your team to be operating at an optimal level.
