Who I am today is because of four generations of incredible women—my grandmother, mother, wife, and daughter.
All four are independent, intelligent, and strong-willed, and they have played a huge role in shaping me into the person I am today.
My Grandmother
I stayed with my grandparents during my college days, and what a classy lady she was. She taught me to stand up for what is right. I never saw her compromise on her beliefs, no matter the situation. She was brave enough to challenge societal norms and raise my mother with strong ideologies that shaped our family.
My Mother
She invested so much time and energy in instilling the right values in me. To her, I wasn’t a “boy” or a “girl”—I was just another kid, equal to everyone else. She taught me that people come in different shapes and sizes, and that’s just how the world is. She was my guide when I struggled with the biases that society imposes, and without her, I don’t know who I would have become. Even today, she stands behind me like a rock.
My Wife
Ranjani Mani inspires me every day and keeps me on my toes. My biggest critic, my strongest support. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to share this journey with. She constantly pushes boundaries, not just for herself but for the people around her. Whether it’s our careers or financial independence, she is always driving change. Most importantly, she is a role model for our daughter, someone she looks up to and aspires to be like.
My Daughter
She is the most precious of all—and every dad would say this without a second thought. Watching her grow from day one has been fascinating. Even as she forms her own opinions, she never hesitates to make her voice heard. She ensures her opinions matter at home—a trait that is essential in today’s world. And slowly, she is taking over the role of my biggest critic from her mom.
For me, it’s not just about celebrating them on “hashtag#InternationalWomenDay” but acknowledging every single day how privileged I am to have them in my life.
Let’s not wait for a special day to celebrate the amazing people around us. They are the reason we are who we are! 💙
